YORK -- Mr. James Lewis "Jimmy" Quinn, 86, of York passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Central Baptist Church of York with Pastor Carey Caldwell, Reverend Ray Talley and Rev. Ron Culbertson officiating and the burial at Lakeview Memory Gardens. A visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Bratton Funeral Home.
Jimmy was a son of the late Vera Crawford Quinn and Vernon Quinn Sr. and a lifelong resident of York. Jimmy was a member of Central Baptist Church since childhood where he sang in the choir and had served as a deacon. He retired from the Cannon Mills and later served as a bailiff at the York County Sheriff Office; he also worked part time in his younger years with York Funeral Home.
Jimmy loved God and his family, and was kind and compassionate to everyone he was aquainted with. He enjoyed gospel music, and sang with several groups over the years, most recently with the Central Baptist Bluegrass quartet. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren by attending whatever activities they were involved with, as long as he was able.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Vernon Quinn Jr. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Billie Blanton Quinn, his sons, Stan Quinn (Patricia) and Rusti Quinn (Karen), daughter, Annette Melton (Mark), all of York; his grandsons Kyle (Brook), Travis (Jenni), Justin (Brandie), Nathan (Amy), Philip (Jess), and Josh (Jessica), and 15 great-grandchildren.
