Iona Self Moss, 86, of Hickory Grove, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Brookdale Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill, SC.
A visitation will be on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Bratton Funeral Home from 6-7:30 PM. A graveside service will be on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Hickory Grove, SC with Reverend Tommy Hope officiating.
Born in Great Falls, SC, Iona was a daughter of the late Luther C. Self and Myrtle Small Self. She was the widow of George Willie Moss. Iona retired from Oxford Manufacturing Company of Hickory Grove, SC and was a dedicated Christian and member of Unity Baptist Church for 74 years. She taught in Children’s Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School classes for many years. She lived in Hickory Grove for 70 years and resided at Brookdale Community of Rock Hill, SC for the last 3 ½ years.
Iona is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Moss Spencer Shiflett (Paul), grandchildren, Lesley Spencer and Jeff Spencer (Maura). She is preceded in death by her siblings, Edith Self Baker and Josialene Self Harris Barber.
The family would like to express gratitude to Providence Hospice Care of York for their love, concern and care for the past seven months.
