On Tuesday, July 27, 2021, Helen Mitchell Houston, 90, of Clover, SC was called home to be with her Lord and Savior.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Filbert Presbyterian Church in America, 2066 Filbert Hwy York, SC 29745. The funeral service will be at 11 AM on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Filbert Presbyterian Church with the Reverends Wallace Tinsley and Dave Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Helen was born on July 10, 1931 in York County. She was the daughter of the late James Calvin Mitchell, Sr. and Emma Faye Stephenson Mitchell. She was the widow of Martin Luther Houston. Helen was a lifelong member of Filbert Presbyterian Church in America. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Helen is survived by her children and their spouses: Fred Houston (Robin), Dan Houston (Sharon), Barbara Lyle (Joe), Karen Neelands (Mike), daughter-in-law, Susan Houston; eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Marty Houston, sisters: Carolyn Skinner, Isabel Bryant, and Frances Mitchell; brothers: James Mitchell, Sr., Otis Mitchell, and Marshall Mitchell.
