HELEN BRINDLE

York – Helen Murry Brindle, 85, passed away at White Oak Manor on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.
A native of York, SC, Helen was born on July 25, 1928. She was the daughter of the late William Morris Murry and Jessie Taylor Murry.

Helen was a retired Congressional Aide who had worked for many years in the Fifth District office of Congressman John M. Spratt. Prior to this position, Helen had worked for Wilkerson Oil Company and in the law office of Spratt McKeown and Spratt in York. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Helen is survived by her daughter Shirley Huelsman and husband Glenn of Gastonia; her son Jerry M. Brindle; daughter-in-law Carol Brindle; grandchildren Kerby Huelsman, Michael Brindle, and Jamie Starnes; one great grandchild Taylor Starnes; her sister Ethel T. Wallace of Rock Hill; sisters-in-law Estelle Brendle of Hickory and Louise Brindle of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Havern of 63 years.

Family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00- 2:00 P.M. at Bratton’s Funeral Home in York, SC. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC, with Pastor Bob Dunn of Trinity United Methodist Church and Pastor Eugene Feagin, formerly of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.
