Harriet Boyd

Harriet Clark Boyd, 85, faithful servant of God, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013, surrounded by family.
She was born on April 22, 1928, to the late Andral B. and Nila C. Clark. She was a native of York, SC, and grew up in the Cottonbelt community. She graduated from York High School and was retired from Belk Stores, where she worked for more than 30 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Lytle Maxie Boyd, Sr., sister, Marjorie Boyd, and brothers, Clyde and Lamar Clark. Survivors include her son, Maxie Boyd (Diane), her daughter Andrea Bennett (Buddy), her sister Ruth Sealey, four grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was an active and lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in York, SC. She was active in all areas of the church, serving as an elder, Sunday school teacher, circle chair, and co-chair of the prayer chain. She was well loved by a host of friends and family. Harriet opened her arms to everyone she met, and loved her family greatly. She was a faithful friend, mentor, and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 26th at Bratton Funeral Home, York, SC and after the memorial service. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m, Friday Dec. 27th at First Presbyterian Church, York, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, 10 W Liberty St, York, SC, 29745 and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
