Peters Funeral Homes traces its lineage to 1908 when Lou Crosby acquired a furniture and undertaking business, passing through four generations of family leadership before being purchased by Chad and Lisa Peters in 2018. Historically, the funeral home also operated as the community ambulance provider during the Jim Crosby era.

Porter Funeral Home traces its family legacy back to 1952 when Alvin Porter began his apprenticeship, with the business expanding across Iowa in the 1950s-60s before establishing a South Dakota presence in Hudson in 1985 under the leadership of his sons Randy and Ric.
