Funeral Alternatives operates a locally-owned family business across three Maine locations with a business model specifically designed to offer simplified cremation and burial services as lower-cost alternatives to traditional funeral home pricing.

Established in 1928, this was the first funeral home in Gardiner and one of the first in Maine, and introduced the first ambulance service to the city while holding the exclusive contract for funeral services at the U.S. Veterans Facility at Togus.

The funeral home operated the town ambulance service in its early years, using the hearse for emergency calls. The business has been family-owned and operated for three generations since 1946.
