The funeral home was established by Larry Oolman in 1977 after bringing experience from Minneapolis back to his hometown of Orange City, and is now operated as a second-generation family business with his son Chad and staff member Lori Uhl.

Becker & Son Funeral Homes operates four locations across northeast Iowa (Fayette, Sumner, Hawkeye, and Tripoli), demonstrating significant regional presence and family continuity serving Fayette County and surrounding communities.

Boothby Funeral Home, established in 1927, recently acquired Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in 2025, merging nearly a century of combined service. The Schuberts, who owned Greenwood-Schubert since 2009, continue operating the adjacent Cherokee Monument Company on the same street.
