Zwick & Jahn Funeral Homes traces its roots to 1899, when William H. Zwick purchased an interest in the Auten & Gay Undertaking and Furniture Store in Decatur, making it one of the oldest family-owned funeral homes in Indiana. The business has remained independently owned and operated through four generations, spanning more than 126 years. In 1929, William H. Zwick acquired full ownership and was later joined by his son Robert J. Zwick, a mortuary school graduate who operated the funeral home until his retirement in the late 1980s.
The Decatur location moved to the Colonel Fred Reppert home in 1934, where operations continue today. The family expanded to serve Berne and Monroeville, maintaining the same standards across all three locations. The funeral home operates an on-site monument company with full production capabilities, allowing families to see memorials from design through installation.
