W.F. Gormley & Sons Funeral Chapel was founded by William F. Gormley, who served as Sacramento Sheriff and Coroner, establishing the business 127 years ago to serve early Sacramentans. The funeral home has remained in continuous family ownership through five generations, currently operated by Patrick "Rick" M. Gormley, who has 39 years of experience, and his son Patrick M. Gormley Jr., who joined the business in 2011.
The family lineage includes founder William F. Gormley's three children—Mary, Manogue, and Thomas—who all worked in and owned the business. Manogue's sons William (Bill) and John (Jack) also worked or owned portions of the operation before the current generation took over. The funeral home has operated from three different locations throughout its history in Sacramento.
The chapel provides a central gathering space for families to bring together friends and relatives. The business offers both burial and cremation services, with options for traditional funeral services with viewing, memorial services, and evening or weekend arrangements.
