Welsheimer Chapel-North operates as part of Palmer Funeral Homes, a locally-owned organization serving South Bend and St. Joseph County. K.R. and Kerry Palmer acquired the Palmer funeral operations and, in 2002, purchased Southlawn Cemetery to restore local ownership after it had been sold to a Florida corporation in 1999.

The funeral home operates multiple chapels throughout the South Bend area, including the Welsheimer location on Cleveland Road. Palmer Funeral Homes also owns and operates Southlawn Cemetery, which maintains 35 acres of undeveloped ground for future expansion and hosts the In God's Arms Program with St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for infant burials. The cemetery features a Police Heroes Section and a columbarium for cremated remains.

Staff members including Aaron provide arrangement conferences and service coordination. The organization offers pet memorial services in addition to traditional funeral and cremation options.
