Uht Funeral Home traces its roots to the 1800s in Huron Township, where the Uht family worked as cabinetmakers and coffin builders. Mantous Uht purchased an existing funeral home in Wayne in 1925 and operated through partnerships with Harold Kennedy in the 1940s and Harold Rediske Sr. from 1952 until Uht's death in 1961. During this period, the funeral home also provided ambulance emergency services to the surrounding community.
The current facility was built at the corner of Glenwood Road and Harvey Street in Westland and opened in March 1967 after the city of Wayne purchased the original building for its Urban Renewal Program. The funeral home has continued to serve the Westland area from this location for over five decades.
