About Tankersley Funeral Home
Tankersley Funeral Home began operations on August 1, 1985, and has roots in the Jones County area extending back over a century. Sam Tankersley, a licensed funeral director since 1973 and embalmer since 1974, manages daily operations alongside his wife Tena. Sam graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1972 and has lived in Stamford since 1973.
Tena Tankersley was raised in the nearby Ericksdahl community, about 10 miles east of Stamford, and attended Texas Tech University before relocating to the area in 1976. The Tankersleys are active members of Bethel Lutheran Church and bring deep West Texas roots to their service.
The funeral home provides both burial and cremation services with options for traditional funeral services with viewing, memorial services, and visitation gatherings. Evening, weekend, and holiday services are available to accommodate family schedules.
