Swedberg Funeral Home has served Gresham and the surrounding Shawano County area for over 50 years. The business traces its roots to 1931, when Karl Schweers established Schweers Funeral Home in Shawano. In 1968, Carl Born expanded into Gresham by purchasing the former Gaffney Funeral Home. Lon Swedberg, who grew up working in his family's funeral home in Webster, Wisconsin, joined the staff in 1971 and became a partner in 1978. After Carl Born's death in 1985, the Swedberg family assumed full ownership.
The Gresham location is part of the Swedberg family of funeral homes, which also includes facilities in Shawano and Tigerton. The Shawano location features a large chapel, wheelchair-accessible entrance, and dedicated parking area following a 1989 expansion. The Tigerton facility operates as Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home & Crematory and includes an on-site crematory. All three locations remain locally owned and operated by the Swedberg family.
