Strickland Funeral Home traces its history to 1894, when Jebb Lee Woods and Mary Jane Sims Woods established their undertaking business in Somerville. Woods entered the funeral profession in 1905 after working in a grocery store that sold caskets, and by the 1920s had acquired one of Burleson County's first rubber-tired horse-drawn hearses and later a Studebaker combination hearse with a special flower tray.

After Woods passed away in 1932, the business continued under his wife, son Walter Lee Woods, and daughter Ruth Strickland. In 1966, Donald Lee Strickland and Nello Strickland Jr. purchased the remaining shares and incorporated the business under its current name. The funeral home serves families throughout Burleson County and offers both traditional burial services and cremation with options ranging from full funeral services to private family gatherings.

The funeral home provides tribute videos, memorial keepsakes, and live streaming for distant family and friends. Strickland also operates a second location in Caldwell.
