Stofcheck Ballinger Funeral Home — Funeral Home in La Rue, OH

Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home was formed in August 2007 when two long-established funeral directing families — the Stofchecks and the Ballingers — combined their operations to serve Richwood, Prospect, and La Rue. The Ballinger family roots trace back to patriarch B.C. Ballinger, who operated a furniture store alongside the funeral home, with his successor Cletus later adding a carpet business to the West Mansfield location.

In earlier decades, the Ballinger operation provided ambulance service with 24-hour on-call staff, a common practice for funeral homes at the time. The business helped organize the Richwood Emergency Squad and supported the effort to establish emergency medical response in the area before fire departments took over those services.
