H.F. "Jim" Staples established this funeral home in April 1928, making it the first funeral home in Gardiner and one of the first in Maine. Staples was a graduate of Maine Central Institute and Bowdoin College before completing his training at the Massachusetts College of Embalming. The business introduced the first ambulance service to Gardiner and held the contract for funeral services at the U.S. Veterans Facility at Togus.
The funeral home has served families in Gardiner and surrounding Kennebec County communities for over 95 years. Staff members provide both traditional funeral and cremation services, as well as pre-planning programs for families who wish to arrange services in advance.
