Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home was established in 1946 when J. Roger Smith opened the Smith Funeral Home in Greenfield, Massachusetts. In 1951, he purchased and renovated the Gardner residence in Shelburne Falls to serve families in both communities. The business became Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in 1972 when J. Roger's son-in-law, Daniel M. Kelleher, joined the practice.
Dan Kelleher and his wife Pamela Smith raised their five sons above the Shelburne Falls location, continuing the family tradition into a second generation. J. Roger Smith retired in the early 1980s after decades of service to families throughout Franklin County. The funeral home maintains its original two locations in Shelburne Falls and Greenfield.
The funeral home offers casket burial, cremation, and assistance with anatomical donation arrangements. Services can be held at either funeral home location, local churches, or other meaningful gathering places chosen by families.
