Singleton and Peter Green, who recognized the need for a funeral home to serve Hempstead's black community. The business began in a house at 416 7th Street with pooled personal resources and no formal business plan. In 1933, Mr. Singleton bought out his partner and renamed the operation Singleton Funeral Home, relocating to 626 7th Street.
In 1934, Mr. Singleton's sons joined the business, leading to the current name of Singleton and Sons. The funeral home has remained family-owned through multiple generations, maintaining its commitment to serving Waller County families for 90 years. The firm offers pre-planning programs and grief support services to families in the Hempstead area.
