Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home was established in 1938 by Edward Sawyer. Current owner William H. Fuller, Jr. began working at the funeral home in 1953 while attending Berkley High School, starting with ambulance runs and assisting with funerals. After serving three years in the U.S. Navy as an electrician, he returned to complete Mortuary School and became a licensed funeral director in 1965.
Fuller purchased the business from the Sawyer family in 1975 and served as president until stepping back from daily operations in 2022. The funeral home has maintained continuous family ownership, with Fuller having married Yvonne Sawyer, the daughter of founder Ed Sawyer, creating a multi-generational family business serving Oakland County families for over 85 years.
