Russell Funeral Home first opened its doors in October 1939 at a modest location on East Seventh Street in Winston Salem. The funeral home relocated in 1962 to the corner of Ninth Street and Ridge Avenue, operating from the Christian Building before constructing a dedicated facility at that site in 1964. The current three-story structure was dedicated in October 1993 and features Tennessee Crab Orchard stone and brick exterior, an entrance foyer with terrazzo flooring, and a stone botanical flower garden.
The funeral home has continuously operated from its current base for over three decades, now located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Carl Russell Avenue. Russell Funeral Home serves families throughout the Winston Salem area and Davie County, offering both funeral and cremation services along with veterans services and pre-planning programs.
