Rowell-Parish Mortuary was established in 1919 by William A. Rowell, making it one of the earliest funeral homes serving the African American community in the Fort Smith area. The business was managed by Rev. Andrew Jackson Parish, Jr. beginning in 1967, who purchased it in 1985 and added his name to honor the Rowell legacy. In 2017, the mortuary was acquired by Veasley Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. of Conway, maintaining family ownership and operation under the leadership of President/CEO Derrick Veasley.
The funeral home is staffed by trained professionals and provides both local and out-of-state service coordination. Traditional funeral arrangements are a specialty, with emphasis on supporting families in Sebastian County and beyond.
