Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel traces back to the early 1940s, when Emmott W. Perry began the Perry Funeral Service out of his home on Glass Lake Road before purchasing the vacant Glass Lake Methodist Church from the Methodist Conference to use as a chapel. The building still retains its original tin ceilings, plaster walls, stained glass windows, and pews. Emmott Perry ran the business until his later years and remained active into his 80s, passing away in 2006 at age 92.

In December 1981, Timothy W. Komdat purchased the business, and the name was changed to Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel to reflect the new ownership and the building's identity as a chapel rather than a home. Over the following decades the facility has been updated with central air conditioning, an expanded parking lot, and an audio-video system for services.

Based in Averill Park in Rensselaer County, the funeral home serves Sand Lake, Poestenkill, and surrounding towns, offering traditional full-service funerals, cemetery burial, memorial services, and cremation.
