Michael O'Laughlin purchased O'Laughlin Funeral Home in 1993 after graduating from Wayne State University's Department of Mortuary Science in 1984. He was raised in the funeral home and worked for his father before returning to Midland County to serve families in Coleman and surrounding areas. Michael serves as president, manager, and licensed funeral director alongside his wife Pamela, who handles administrative duties as vice president.

The funeral home has employed Eugene "John" Owens since the 1970s, when he began working with Patrick O'Laughlin. John retired from Dow Chemical in 1986 after 31 years and brought extensive knowledge of local families and the Coleman community to his role assisting with arrangements, calling hours, and services. His decades of experience with the funeral home and ambulance service have made him a valued resource for families.

Michael O'Laughlin has deep community ties through his service on the Coleman June Fest Committee, Coleman Planning Commission, and as president of Coleman Youth Athletic Association. He coached youth and high school girls' softball and basketball for several years and served on the board of directors for Midland County Junior Achievement.
