About Nelson Martin Funeral Service
Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Service has operated in Redwood Falls since 1919, making it one of the longer-standing funeral homes in Redwood County. The Redwood Falls facility itself dates to the mid-1920s, originally built as the Hardy family residence before John Hoepner acquired it around 1960 for use as a funeral home.
Alan Hillestad, a licensed funeral director and pre-need consultant who has worked in the Redwood Falls-Morgan area since 1995, bought the business in February 2011. He holds a mortuary science degree from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and leads a staff that includes funeral director Jim Johnson, manager Jimmy Sands, and funeral assistants Diane Radel, Shirley Dove, and Carrie Werner.
The funeral home arranges burial and cremation services, veteran burial benefits, and pre-planning consultations for families in Redwood Falls, Morgan, and the surrounding area.
