Mulhearn Funeral Home was established in 1929 by Peter Sherlock Mulhearn, his wife Alwine Louise Peters, and their children, building on a family undertaking business that dates to the early 1900s. The Mulhearn family expanded to Winnsboro and other northeast Louisiana communities during the mid-1930s, and the business has remained family-owned through four generations. In 1971, Tom and Marie Mulhearn and their four children purchased the company, and today multiple Mulhearn family members continue to serve families across Franklin Parish and surrounding areas.

The funeral home operates as part of a regional network with additional locations in Monroe, West Monroe, and Rayville, allowing the family to draw on over 95 years of experience while maintaining local presence in each community.
