Mt Sinai was established in 2005 to provide halachic burial opportunities for Jews of all denominations and intermarried couples in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The cemetery offers both traditional burial and alternative options, with no synagogue affiliation required.

The grounds feature desert landscaping with native trees and plants set against the Sonoran mountains. Paved walkways run in front of every grave to allow visitors to pay respects without stepping on burial sites, and all graves are covered with crushed granite in accordance with Jewish tradition. An outdoor pavilion on the property provides a setting for funeral services at the same location as the burial.
