Meserole Five Towns Funeral Home was founded in 1888 by Myron C. Combs, who conducted funerals from a small building on Lord Avenue and served as the only funeral director in the Rockaways area for many years. Frank D. Meserole became a licensed funeral director and joined his uncle in 1921, taking over the business when Combs died in 1923 and constructing a modern facility at Lord and Wanser Avenue that opened in 1928. Frank's son F. Wesley Meserole joined as a licensed funeral director in 1931, and his wife Georgina became a licensed director in 1941.
The funeral home remained in the Meserole family for multiple generations before being purchased by Inwood resident David Hance and Oceanside resident Craig Pio, who maintain its status as an independent, family-owned operation. The facility features tastefully decorated spaces designed to provide a warm and peaceful atmosphere for services.
