About MeadowLawn and American Mortuary
MeadowLawn Funeral Home and Crematory sits on 94 acres on San Antonio's east side, with a history dating to 1872 when the property served as the Ackerman Family cemetery. Cyrus "Cy" Weller founded MeadowLawn as a perpetual care cemetery in 1963, and the business has been family-owned through three generations, currently operated by Craig and Mary Cates.
The facility includes a traditional funeral home, two on-site crematories (one for humans and one for pets), and a 29-acre perpetual care cemetery that has expanded over the decades. Originally managed by the Hermann Fraternal Order from 1919 to 1963, MeadowLawn remains independently owned and offers families the convenience of handling all arrangements in one location.
