McMikle Funeral Home was founded in 1951 by Elgin and Sue McMikle, opening for service in East Prairie in January 1952. The family established a Charleston location in 1954 at 201 South Center Street, which remains the office location today. A new chapel facility was built and dedicated in Charleston on March 5, 1978.
The business expanded to Sikeston in February 2020 with the purchase of the former Blanchard Funeral Chapel. On January 31, 2024, ownership transferred to Terry A. Parker, a licensed funeral director whose parents worked with the McMikle family at the funeral home for many years and who began working in the business at age 17.
McMikle Funeral Home serves families throughout Scott and Mississippi Counties. The funeral home offers live-streaming services for family and friends unable to attend in person, tribute videos, and personalized keepsakes.
