McFarland Funeral Home was established in 1968 by the late Rev. R. L. McFarland, Sr., and Ruby T. McFarland, who at 94 years of age continues to work in the business. The funeral home is operated by Ruby and two of her sons: Dwight T. McFarland, a Kentucky-licensed funeral director and embalmer, and Alison S. McFarland, a Kentucky-licensed funeral director.
The current facility was built in 2006 on approximately one acre in central Owensboro. The building features audio-visual capabilities including a motorized drop-down large screen for memorial videos, closed-circuit television, and flat screen monitors. The funeral home offers both traditional burial services and cremation, with live-streaming available for remote attendees.
Since opening, McFarland Funeral Home has served over 6,500 families in Owensboro and Daviess County. The business provides veteran honors and works with families to create tribute videos and memorial keepsakes.
