New Funeral Homes operates two locations in Owenton with deep roots in Owen County history. The Main Street location traces back to the late 1800s, originally operating as C.F. Beverly and Son Funeral Home (advertised as early as 1918), then evolving through partnerships as Watson and Orr (1926), Kemper and Orr (1947), and Kemper and Arnold (1957) before Thomas L. McDonald purchased it in 1985. The Seminary Street location was established by Clayton Hartsough in the late 1800s, later operated by B.W. Redding beginning in 1906 and subsequently by the Redding family until Maurice J. Smither acquired it in 1952.
