McCafferty Funeral & Cremation Inc. opened in December 1970 when James A. McCafferty, Sr. and his wife Margaret Mary Dinan established the business in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. Both came from families of third-generation funeral directors, with Margaret growing up at Dinan Funeral Home in Center City. Mark McCafferty and his wife Lisa now operate the funeral home, and in 2019 their daughter Koryn became a licensed funeral director, representing the fifth generation of McCafferty family funeral service providers.
In May 2018, the funeral home opened an on-site crematory at their Frankford Avenue location, making them the only funeral home in Philadelphia with a crematory on the premises. The business maintains a second location in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Mark McCafferty handles all funeral arrangement conferences alongside his daughter Koryn, while Lisa McCafferty manages daily office operations.
