Captain Todd Magaline founded Marin Memorial Services in 1997 after more than 25 years navigating Northern California coastal waters. He operates the business with his brother Captain Kim Magaline, both originally from Long Island, New York, who together bring decades of experience on San Francisco Bay.
The service operates aboard the Blue Runner, a refurbished 43-foot US Coast Guard certified Delta vessel berthed in Sausalito. Standard ash scattering services depart from Sausalito and travel past the Golden Gate Bridge to a sheltered location near the Marin Headlands, with the ceremony typically involving three circles through the water for flower placement, ash scattering, and final remembrances.
Services accommodate up to 28 passengers, with pricing starting at $600 for up to six people. The company also offers unattended ash scattering services for families who prefer not to be present during the ceremony.
