Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. has served Berks County since 1884, when founder John F. Lutz, a cabinet and casket maker, began the business in what was then Esterly (now St. Lawrence), PA. His son, J. Elmer Lutz, Sr., built the current Mount Penn facility in 1931, designed specifically as a funeral home, and the family-founded operation continues to serve Reading and surrounding communities such as Birdsboro, Boyertown, and Denver.
