Lewis and Ferguson Funeral Home — Funeral Home in Sandy Hook, KY

Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home was founded in April 1948 by James E. and Mynea Ferguson Lewis, along with her father John Newton Ferguson, making it one of Elliott County's oldest continually operated businesses. The family has provided funeral and embalming services to eastern Kentucky for more than 105 years, now spanning five generations of funeral assistance and four generations of licensed funeral directors.

The funeral home originally operated from the former Dr. A. M. Lyon residence on the corner of KY Route 7 and Gee Street before constructing its current colonial-style facility in 1979, specifically designed for modern funeral and visitation needs. Mark E. Lewis, a fourth-generation licensed funeral director and embalmer who obtained his license in 1986, currently owns and operates the business in Sandy Hook.

The Lewis and Ferguson family lineage in funeral service includes John N. Ferguson, licensed in 1931 and owner of Ferguson Funeral Home in Morehead during the early 1900s, and Mynea E. Ferguson Lewis, licensed in 1950, who owned and operated the business from 1948 until 2014.
