Lavender's Funeral Service traces its roots to 1947, when James Boyd and Susie Mae Lavender opened Royal Funeral Home. The current state-of-the-art facility was built in 1982 by Warren Lavender and his wife Lola H. Lavender, both licensed funeral directors.
Third-generation owner Belinda Lavender Windham holds Alabama and National funeral director licenses and operates the business alongside her husband Terry Windham, a retired U.S. Army Captain and Alabama State Trooper Lieutenant who is also a licensed funeral director. Their son Terrence serves as an Associate Minister at First Baptist Church in Aliceville and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, while his wife LaTasha is completing her apprenticeship as a funeral director.
The funeral home employs a staff of 30 attendants, chauffeurs, ushers, and licensed funeral directors and embalmers serving Aliceville and surrounding Pickens County communities.
