The Lomira location is part of Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service, which traces its roots to 1910 when Andrew Kapfer and Frank Zwaschka purchased a furniture and undertaking business in nearby Barton. The original partnership evolved through several ownership changes, with Frank Gehl eventually becoming sole owner of what was then known as Kapfer and Gehl Funeral Home.
Today the funeral home operates multiple locations across Dodge and Washington counties, including facilities in West Bend, Kewaskum, and Mayville in addition to the Lomira chapel. The business has served families in the Barton, Lomira, and surrounding communities for over a century, maintaining continuity through changing ownership while expanding its geographic reach.
