The funeral home traces its roots to 1913, when Irwin J. VanGorder conducted his first funeral from the original location on 5th Street in Ellwood City. Joseph A. Tomon Jr. and his wife purchased the business from P.O. Contrucci in 1979 and operated at that address until relocating to a new facility in Sharon in 2004. The former Ellwood City location was the longest continuously operating funeral home in that community, serving families for 88 years through three different ownership families and four generations of licensed funeral directors.

When the current facility was built in 2004, it became the Ellwood area's first on-site crematory. The funeral home has since performed over 7,000 cremations, making it a local resource for families choosing cremation. Licensed funeral directors provide both traditional burial services and cremation options, including services with viewing, memorial ceremonies, and cremation without formal services.
