G.W. Jones founded Jones Funeral Home in 1920 across from the Onslow County Court House. The business is now fourth generation family owned, with Jerry Jones and his sons Bert and Bart continuing the family's funeral service tradition that began with G.W. and his sons Timmons, Talbert, and Thompson.
The funeral home operates four locations serving Jacksonville, Swansboro, Holly Ridge, and Richlands. In 1994, Jones Funeral Home installed the first crematory in Onslow County, which remains the only crematory in the county. The main Jacksonville facility was rebuilt in 1998 to accommodate growth after exhausting all renovation options at the original location.
