Johnson Funeral Home opened in October 1976 with founder Zeb Johnson serving as the original owner and funeral director. The facility began with one chapel and two staterooms, then expanded in 2000 to add a second chapel, family lounge, and additional office space. A complete 17,000-square-foot interior renovation was completed in 2017, updating flooring, furnishings, lighting, and multimedia capabilities throughout.
The funeral home built the Lake Charles Crematory in 2001, which has grown to become the largest crematory operator in Southwest Louisiana, serving families across five parishes. Zeb Johnson remains actively involved in daily operations after 52 years in funeral service, working alongside Graham Hankins to lead a staff of 60 funeral professionals.
