Jagers & Sons Funeral Home was founded in 1923 by John Jagers and has remained family-owned for over a century. The business relocated twice before settling at its current Morris Avenue location in 1967. John's sons Joe and Jerry, grandson Tim, and daughter-in-law Peggy Jagers have all been involved in operations over the decades.
The funeral home is currently operated by Tim Jagers and his mother Peggy Jagers. Originally, embalming and services were conducted in the homes of the deceased, a practice that has since evolved with the establishment of a permanent facility. The business has served Athens and surrounding areas through four generations of the Jagers family.
