IPS Mortuary & Crematory was founded by Gerald Newlon over 30 years ago and continues as a family-owned business operated by his sons, Gregory and Geoffrey Newlon. The company began in 1984 as a mortuary transportation service, holding an annual contract with the Utah State Medical Examiner for 28 years. In 1987, the business expanded into its current facility on Redwood Road in Taylorsville and added cremation services with an on-site crematory.
The funeral home specializes in direct cremation as an affordable alternative, offering consultation with families and clergy, preparation and filing of all necessary paperwork, body transportation, and preparation services. IPS continues to provide transportation services for the University of Utah Body Donor Program and serves families throughout Salt Lake County and the greater Wasatch Front area.
