Hines Home of Funerals — Funeral Home in Atlanta, GA

The Hines family traces its funeral service heritage to the late 1800s when William L. Dunn and his brother C.H. Dunn founded Dunn Brothers Undertaking Company on Ashby Street in Atlanta. William Dunn, a licensed funeral director, architect, and Mason, built the family home by hand in 1908 and established Dunn Cemetery on Main Street off Hollywood Road in the early 1900s, which served as one of the premier cemeteries for people of color during that era.

After William Dunn's death in 1949, his granddaughter Hazel Dunn and her husband Harper Hines, who had worked as a full-time embalmer and funeral director under Mr. Dunn, opened Hines Home of Funerals on the corner of Piedmont Avenue and Pine Street. The firm has remained family-owned and operated, serving Atlanta families for over a century with continuity across multiple generations.
