About Hemer Funeral Service
Hemer Funeral Service is recognized as the third oldest continuously operating business in Medford, with deep roots in Taylor County. In March 2021, Stacy Pickerign purchased the funeral home from Jeff Hemer, bringing her experience as a licensed funeral director since 1999 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science from the University of Minnesota.
The funeral home operates under the name Hemer-Pickerign Funeral & Cremation Services and maintains 24-hour availability year-round. Staff funeral director Colton Freiberg, a Medford native, joined the team in May 2016 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's funeral service program.
