About Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home
Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home has operated in Greencastle since October 1, 1948, when founder Harold M. Zimmerman and his wife Jean opened the business three doors from its present location. The funeral home relocated to its current site in 1952, and in 1988 an adjacent property acquired in 1980 was joined to the original building with a 1,700-square-foot addition. Harold's son, H. Martin Zimmerman Jr., joined the business in 1981, leading to the current name adopted in 1988.
A World War II Army veteran, Harold Zimmerman trained at the Cincinnati College of Embalming and worked at funeral homes in Chambersburg, Lewistown, and Gettysburg before establishing his own firm. The funeral home remains Greencastle's only locally owned, family-operated funeral home, serving Franklin County families from Chambersburg to Waynesboro and Mercersburg.
Services include funeral and cremation arrangements, pre-planning, and grief support for families throughout the Greencastle area.
