Hansen Funeral Home was founded by Brian Hansen in 1979 when he purchased the former Whitcomb Funeral Home on South Main Street in Janesville. Brian was a 1979 graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College with a degree in Funeral Service and came from a funeral service family—his father Matt Hansen started Hansen Funeral Home in Beloit in 1939.
Brian served as the sole proprietor and funeral director from 1979 until his death in February 2015. He was an active member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Janesville, where he served as a choir member and cantor for many years. After Brian's passing, his wife Angela, who had been involved in the business since 1992, continued operating the funeral home until it closed in May 2017, concluding 38 years of service to Rock County families.
