Frank R. Fitzgerald founded this funeral home in 1914 after completing training at Barnes School of Anatomy and Embalming and working eight years at Brett Funeral Home in Milwaukee. The business has remained family-owned through multiple generations, with Frank's son Bob joining after attending Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1949 and the family continuing operations into the present day.

The funeral home secured the government contract to handle deaths at Camp Grant during World War I, responding when hundreds of soldiers died during the 1918 flu epidemic.
