Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home & Cremation Services was formed in July 1977 through a merger of Cron-Cheney Funeral Home (established 1974) and Fisher Funeral Home (established 1930). Owner S. Howard Cheney began his funeral service career in 1956, earned his degree from Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1962, and purchased the Cron Funeral Home in Troy in 1974, which itself traced back to 1888.

The facility features two chapels with a combined seating capacity of 415 people. The East Chapel seats 140 following a 1980 expansion, while the West Chapel underwent major renovation in 1996 and now seats 275. The funeral home maintains 104 parking spaces following a 2001 expansion.

Mr. Cheney has been active in Troy since 1974 as a Rotarian and serves as a Free and Accepted Mason, York Rite Mason, Scottish Rite Mason, and Shriner. He holds memberships in the National Funeral Directors Association, Ohio Funeral Directors Association, and Ohio Embalmers Association.
