About Finch Funeral Chapel
Finch Funeral Chapel of La Vernia traces back to the Finch family's funeral business founded by Barney Finch in Cuero, Texas, in 1951, and their later purchase of Mennenga Funeral Home in Nixon in 1961. Don Finch opened the La Vernia location in 1992 and placed it under the management of his son Troy Finch, a Texas State University graduate and licensed mortician, and Troy's wife Janet, a licensed funeral director.
The family has operated under the philosophy of treating families the way they would want to be treated for more than 60 years, extending that service from Nixon and La Vernia to Stockdale, Yorktown, Runge, and surrounding Wilson and Gonzales County towns. Troy Finch, now owner, remains active in La Vernia community affairs.
Services include pre-arrangement planning, grief support resources, flower ordering through local florists, and obituary notifications for families in the La Vernia area.
